The Mosaic Company and Ducks Unlimited Canada Enter Landmark 10-Year Agreement to Restore Saskatchewan Wetlands

Regina, Sask. – The Mosaic Company (Mosaic) has entered a landmark, 10-year agreement with Ducks Unlimited Canada to restore wetlands across Saskatchewan, representing one of the most significant and future-focused industry-led conservation commitments in the province. Through this agreement, Mosaic will invest more than $4.4 million targeted at restoring nearly 180 hectares of wetlands.

“Mosaic is committed to operating responsibly and in line with Saskatchewan’s environmental expectations and regulations,” said Lawrence Berthelet, Vice President, Potash. “This 10-year agreement with Ducks Unlimited Canada allows us to take a long-term, science-based approach to wetland restoration, ensuring impacts are addressed while delivering meaningful, measurable environmental outcomes. Mosaic also thanks Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Environment for its contributions and engagement leading up to today’s announcement.”

Ducks Unlimited Canada will lead the identification, design and implementation of projects in priority landscapes across Saskatchewan, with a focus on areas that provide the greatest benefit for waterfowl, wildlife, and local communities.

Wetlands are among the most important ecosystems in Saskatchewan, supporting biodiversity, water quality, and climate resilience. Located in a key North American waterfowl breeding region, the province plays a critical role in sustaining these habitats. As part of the program, restored wetlands will be monitored and evaluated for performance, including water function and ecological health.

“This agreement demonstrates how industry and conservation organizations can work together to conserve and restore healthy ecosystems while supporting sustainable development, the economy and ensuring regulatory compliance,” said Janis Rod, Director of Sustainability Solutions with Ducks Unlimited Canada.

The Mosaic and Ducks Unlimited Canada partnership demonstrates how industry and conservation organizations can work together to deliver measurable environmental outcomes while contributing to economic growth.

The agreement serves to ensure Mosaic’s environmental impacts are addressed through measurable, science-based outcomes. This long-term approach reduces the lag time between environmental responsibility and operational growth, and it reflects Mosaic’s commitment to responsible resource use in Saskatchewan. It also reinforces Mosaic’s commitment to transparency and accountability in its sustainability efforts, including progress toward its 2030 goals.
