Saskatchewan celebrates the first potash producing underground mine on June 8 in Esterhazy, fondly named K1, then owned by IMC Global. |

1964
Kalium Chemicals Ltd. builds the first solution mine in Belle Plaine, near Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. |

1967
Development of a second underground mine, K2, in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan begins. |
|
1969
Central Canada underground mine in Colonsay SK, near Saskatoon, was built. |

The crop nutrition business of Cargill, Inc. and IMC Global form a new crop nutrition company, The Mosaic Company. |

Plans are announced for a new underground mine in Esterhazy named K3. |

Shaft sinking begins at K3. |

February: Mosaic celebrates reaching potash at K3 in Esterhazy SK. |
